Happy first of June, my friends. I thought I’d share some of my favorite things from May to kick off the month of June.
The Troubles with Hating You by Sajni Patel turned out to be a real stunner for me. It is an excellent enemies-to-lovers romance featuring Indian-American characters. (Content/Trigger Warnings: mentions of past sexual assault and descriptions of unwanted sexual advances).
Glow Recipe’s Watermelon Glow Pink Juice Moisturizer has been my go-to morning moisturizer for the last month. I’ve been using the smaller size and recently purchased the larger size as a back-up. It’s a great light-weight moisturizer for my oily, acne-prone skin. You can check out my current morning skin care routine here.
I came across Covergirl’s Clean Matte BB Cream via YouTube reviews and was intrigued because it has none of the claims a traditional BB Cream has. It is a really nice, light-weight matte foundation with medium coverage–great for every day. I’ve been sitting out in the sun and have gotten tanner over the last few days, so I’ll most likely have to go a shade up for a better match.
This casual shirt from Amazon (in various colors) over leggings has been my go-to quarantine outfit. This top is loose and flowy, making it very comfortable for every day.
My friend/co-worker has been very into astrology and when I asked for a good horoscope app, she recommended Sanctuary which requires your date, time and location of birth for the most accurate results. I love the text message format of the entire app and the guides, and information about planets and more are fascinating. What’s funny is that I got one of my best friends to download the app and we found out that my Sun Sign (Gemini) is her Rising Sign and her Sun Sign (Virgo) is my Rising Sign. So, when we get our daily horoscopes, they’re reversed! No wonder we get along so well!
Lush’s Cup O’Coffee Mask has been my favorite weekly face mask. Check out my blog post featuring reviews of this mask and two other products from Lush.
Towards the end of May, I worked on cleaning up and rearranging my room. For inspiration, I watched various bedroom makeovers on YouTube, and I somehow found Sueddu, a Korean YouTube Vlogger. Their videos are extremely minimalist and soothing.
It’s very strange to note that I have been in quarantine since March 15th and on top of it all, we are in the midst of so much sadness, anger, and division. I hope that you are all safe and well, especially if you are an essential worker and especially if you are leaving your home to participate in protests. If like me, you are uncomfortable protesting but still want to support our Black brothers and sisters, I sincerely hope that you will consider donating to important causes, signing petitions, and sharing resources with others who also want to fight from home.
